Hello, my name is Sarah and I'm a graphic & web designer based in Edmonton. I strive to create user interfaces that are both engaging and functional.

CHIMO Website Redesign

This is a working, responsive prototype for a school project. The non-profit this project was based on is the CHIMO Youth Retreat Centre, who play an active role in providing many services and support to youth in need. This re-design focused on conveying Chimo as warm and accessible, and aimed to capture a more youthful audience.

The Guide for Emerging Designers

This booklet with instructions for new designers was a school project. All the written content was provided, our job was to organize it. The booklet uses only one font family and a limited colour palette to showcase the various ways typography can be used. By limiting the variables, I forced myself to push each design further in order to create a booklet that was engaging throughout.

AU Innovation & Symposium

This is an ad campaign I did for Athabasca University Faculty of Business’ Innovation & Productivity Symposium. Included was an interactive mailout, a magazine ad, a poster, a postcard, and a suite of web banners. The campaign was successful in holding an unified theme across many different mediums and sizes.

Dragon Boat Campaign

This ad campaign is a collaborative school project between myself and 3 other designers. The goal of this project was to take a local event or festival, re-design its identity, and create an ad campaign to broaden its local awareness. The design focuses around a flowing river that transforms into a dragon which represents the North Saskatchewan River.

My name is Sarah Duchesneau-Callihoo; I am a designer who is passionate about the endless use of digital media. The approach I take towards design is to first understand the purpose of the project and who it's directed to. I believe that form follows function, and I base descisions on coming to the best solution for each project.

I work well on my own and in a team environment, taking on leadership roles when needed, and interacting with others regardless of role. When I find a new technique or program, I become eager to learn it and take the initiative to teach myself. Although my first passion is the web, I am still keen to explore the print world and all it has to offer.
